REVIEW QUOTES

A second innings as salty, charming and free flowing as the first.

Colin Chinery, Eastern Daily Press

I thought Mr Chalke could never repeat his success. He has. Triumphantly. ‘Caught in the Memory’ is a delight. Read the book. Read the book, I beg you. I commend it wholeheartedly - and not least for the splendid illustrations by Mr Ken Taylor. He won’t remember, but once he trod on my toe in the tea interval at Bramall Lane. He could grind my whole body into the ground without trace if he compels Mr Chalke to produce another volume.

Peter Tinniswood, Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack

Chalke clearly has a huge respect and liking for professional cricketers, and his finest achievement is the marvellous way in which he brings characters to life. He gives accounts of a dozen separate games and, if you weren’t there at the time, by the end you feel as though you were. Sports books don’t get any better.
