REVIEW QUOTES
A magnificent book, brilliantly researched.
Bill Lewis, The Cricket Statistician
An elegant study of the 25 batsmen with 100 first-class centuries.
It contains a treasure trove of anecdotes, some vivid descriptions of memorable performances
and an abundance of technical analysis. The last chapters on Hick and Ramprakash
are among the best - though Murphy's tour de force on Frank Woolley
made me yearn to be transported back to 1920s Canterbury.
Richard Whitehead, The Wisden Cricketer
A classic of cricket literature.
This could have been a prosaic cuttings job, but not only did Murphy talk to 14 of the 25,
and call witnesses to bear, he also illuminates the eras in which they performed their stirring deeds.
Simon Redfern, The Independent on Sunday
