MARK WAGH

Mark Wagh was born in Birmingham in 1976. He attended King Edward’s School and Oxford University , where he studied Psychology.

He captained Oxford University at cricket and played for Warwickshire from 1997 to 2006 where at one stage his prolific run-scoring took him close to selection for England . His 315 against Middlesex at Lord’s in 2001 remains the third highest innings ever played at the game’s historic headquarters.

In 2007 he moved to Nottinghamshire where he was their leading run-scorer as they won promotion from Division Two, and in the wet summer of 2008 he was one of only five English batsmen to score 1,000 runs in Division One, an achievement the greater for his playing half his matches on the bowler-friendly pitches at Trent Bridge .

This is his first book, but his appetite is whetted and he already has plans for a second volume, exploring the issues of leadership in sport.
