SIMON LISTER
Simon Lister was born in London in 1969. He grew up in rural
Shropshire, watching his father opening the batting for Newport, but his sense
of cricket was transformed when he was taken to The Oval in 1976 to see Clive
Lloyd’s West Indians.
Now he is a radio producer and a
cricket writer. He is a regular contributor to The Wisden Cricketer magazine and has written for the Wisden
Cricketers’ Almanack. He also reports on county cricket for the Sunday
Telegraph.
In recent years he has dropped
dozens of catches and missed many stumpings while keeping wicket for both Kew
and Chesham in the Thames Valley League and as a playing member of MCC.
He founded his own team in 2007: Old Sawbuttkeane Cricket Club. The inaugural season was an outstanding success; of the three fixtures arranged, two were rained off, the third cancelled by the opposition.
However, in 2009, playing at Frieth in Buckinghamshire, Simon scored his first ever hundred.
